Oat and Avocado Winter Skin Mask
The combination of oats and yogurt is a fantastic exfoliator, and both brighten dull skin. Oats will gently slough off dead skin cells whilst the AHAs in yogurt act as a non-abrasive exfoliant, carefully encouraging the turnover of new cells and leaving behind fresh and glowing skin. By adding honey to a facemask, it acts as a humectant, drawing moisture to the top layer of the skin and helping it stay dewy throughout the day.(beauty salon upper west side)
What you need:
Half a ripe avocado
1 teaspoon oats
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon yogurt
Blend together all ingredients and apply to a clean face. Leave on for up to 15 mins and rinse thoroughly.
Blended Avocado Super Serum
If you fancy a slightly less messy avocado fix, using avocado oil in place of the real thing is a great way to reap the benefits, minus the green gunk. Avocado oil is a thick, rich carrier oil that’s fantastic for hydrating dry or sensitive skin – plus is easily available to buy from your local supermarket.(beauty salon upper west side)
Blend together avocado and sweet almond oils for their powerful antioxidant properties; fantastic to help with any signs of ageing and to promote skin cell rejuvenation. Both oils smell pretty strong so add a couple of drops of lavender and frankincense essential oil to help (both are great for all skin types).
The end result is a rich serum that should be used at night before bed, allowing time for the skin to absorb the oils. It can also be used as a moisturizing body oil.(beauty salon upper west side)
What You need:
10ml avocado oil
20ml sweet almond oil
3 drops lavender essential oil
3 drops frankincense essential oil
Blend all oils together and stir well to ensure the essential oils are distributed evenly. Store in an airtight pump bottle and apply liberally at night before bed.
Avocado and Grow Shine Mask
Avocado is also great for the hair as its naturally high fat content is great at restoring particularly dry hair types without leaving it feeling too greasy. This recipe is designed to promote both shine and growth. The combination of the avocado and olive oil, both high in essential fatty acids, will provide hair with a hydration kick.(beauty salon upper west side)
What You need:
Half a ripe avocado
1 teaspoon-tablespoon of olive oil (depending on hair length)
3 drops rosemary essential oil
This recipe also includes rosemary essential oil which acts as an antibacterial astringent for the scalp – essentially priming it for healthy hair production and encouraging growth from the root. This is a heavy mask so will need to be fully rinsed once applied, but the end result is worth it. Soft and manageable locks and a healthy scalp!
